A Fresh Start

Welcome back to this poor excuse for a blog. It's been months since I wrote a blog-post; my motivation for it has been non-existent, and since then my aims have changed a little, so I'm kind of forgetting my previous posts and starting anew. Ever since my little mountain experience my life has been a rollercoaster ride. I've discovered that life is actually quite hollow and empty; that being lonely is a reality in life, and being optimistic is quite often being unrealistic.

The only shred of optimism I can latch onto is that there's always next year when it comes to applying to medical school. The first year I didn't get in, I have to admit, was probably due to me being too immature for medicine, not realising the amount of work necessary for such a demanding career. That and my constant tendency to drift into controversy during my interviews. Not getting in the second year wasn't really my fault; I was under the influence of medication that made me feel drowsy and not think straight. Why was I on tablets? Well that was Snowdon's fault. I now have a year where I have to study biochemistry, a subject I hate but one I put as a backup anyway when I applied.

Why do I want to do medicine so badly? Apart from it being the only thing in the world I'm interested in, I've always looked up to doctors; the way they can give hope to so many people through their words and actions. I'd like to be a part of that. I've read inspirational stories of how doctors have gone out of their way for others, how quick-thinking and versatile doctors have been to save lives. This world is full of destruction, enmity and distrust; doctors are there to make up for the shortcomings of everyone else.

This summer has been quite uneventful, apart from going to Egypt early on, I've just been doing driving lessons, going out a couple of times and intending to start writing a novel. I have a basic idea of what I want to write, but it's how to start it that's annoying me. One of the highlights of the summer was when I watched The Dark Knight, an AMAZING piece of acting by Heath Ledger. His performance really does deserve a posthumous oscar.

So there we go, a blog post without any strikethroughs, sarcasm or silliness. This time last month I wouldn't have dreamt of writing on this blog again becuase of how clouded my mind had become, but I hope to regain at least some writing prowess so one day in the future I can become a published author!
